COURSE MODULE 506

292K, A4, 3 pages module description

Publishing Skills, Discrimination and Good Practice
Through lectures and seminars you will learn about design features and page layout for both print and web design. This module takes you step by step through the technical aspects of publishing.

The practical element of the module is to produce a double-page magazine spread. You are first expected to analyse the magazine in terms of structure and design and then create a page that imitates the style of your chosen magazine and uses adapted content for the same audience.

This module is very hands on and will develop your knowledge of QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop. Software seminars are designed to familiarise you with the Applemacs; throughout the module you will be aided by the university technicians.

The module is completed in the first term but the skills learned are transferable to other elements of the course and the work place.
